I need new glasses. And contacts. The first thing that came to mind when this dawned on me was “$$$!” That stuff is expensive! But the longer that I put it off, the worse my eyes will get. I learned that lesson once. Don’t continue to wear contacts if they’re giving you headaches and causing your eyes to hurt. For me this usually means that my prescription isn’t a good fit for me anymore and I need to get it reevaluated and purchase new contacts.

I’ve never had vision coverage, but being on my husband’s insurance now means that we get a discount through Sear’s Optical or Pearle Vision as a perk of having CIGNA medical insurance. Looks like I get $10 off a contact lens exam, pay $50 for single vision standard plastic lenses, get 35% off of any frame available at the provider location, and pay $15 for standard scratch resistance and $40 to upgrade to polycarbonate on the lenses.

I just have a feeling that it’s still going to cost quite a bit (for new lenses, frames and a year supply of contacts…not to mention the contact lens exam is always more expensive). I wouldn’t need new frames except that I didn’t get my glasses from Sear’s Optical, so I doubt they’ll be able to supply lenses that fit them.

I wish I had 20/20 vision so that I didn’t have to worry about these types of costs! My husband is lucky in that respect. He’s healthy as a horse and has perfect vision. I’m stuck with a medical condition and bad eyesight. Go figure.
