view of my medicine cabinetI’m a snob when it comes to facial care products. For instance, I usually only buy Hope in a Bottle (2oz. for $38), my face lotion of choice from Sephora. I’m sure we can all see how this is not in the least bit frugal. In fact, it’s quite indulgent. (In my defense, I can make that 2oz bottle last me upwards of 6-8 months!) I love the Philosophy line of products at Sephora and I hate to part with them, but the time is near.

I can no longer afford to splurge on these items. If you look in my medicine cabinet you will see that it is full of Philosphy skin care products in all shapes and sizes. Take a peek in my shower and you will see 3 different facial cleansers from the same line, one of which is actually my husband’s. I’m hooked. And as the bottles are running low, the realization that I will have to switch to something much cheaper is looming before me.

Here’s the thing. I have tempermental skin. I’m prone to breakouts and have an oily T-zone (forehead & nose) and when I find a product that really WORKS for me…I’m faithful to it. I’ve been using the Philosophy line of skin care for almost 2 years now and it has worked wonders for me. I’m normally willing to spend the extra money on something that has proven itself time and time again. But not if we don’t have the money…

I’ve been using store brand unscented Lubriderm on my face here and there, trying to make my Philosophy lotion last me a bit longer. Although it doesn’t have the same effect, it at least doesn’t leave my face greasy or feeling funny like some other basic lotions do. So it’s not the end of the world.

But you can count on the fact that as soon as I get a spare $40, I will be investing in another bottle of my beloved Hope in a Bottle.
