Planning meals ahead and making them ourselves are by far our biggest money savers. Also, if you someone you know is military and able to take you shopping on base, you can save quite a bit on some things.

I like to browse my weekly flyers online - visiting the grocers websites sometimes you can even load coupons onto your clubcard as well as print store coupons. Centsible.net is good for the local flyers and they even print a few manufacturers coupons. Check them out at http://www.centsible.net/groceries.shtml

I also try to plan my weekly meals around a theme (usually cuisine type) that way you're using the same ingredients in several dishes and you have less waste. Crockpots work wonders too, saving time and money (use dried pulses as the mainstay - add a few fresh veggies and some broth and your off (I LOVE my Rival Crockpot!!).

Main thing - learn to cook. Cook your own meals (like suggested here) and then you can give a good shot at making something from those last foods in your fridge. Decrease the waste and you'll save!
