I’ll be the first to admit that I’m on too many medications for my age (24).  I mean, really, I don’t know anyone else my age that takes 5-7 pills every morning when they get up.  I’ve gotten so good that I can take them all at once with one swig of milk.  What an accomplishment, ‘eh?

Needless to say, I’m always worried when I’m put on new meds or they switch dosages or whatnot because even though I have insurance, my co-pay varies and can be expensive.

My insurance company allows me to get 3 months filled in a retail pharmacy before they hike up the price and request that I use their mail order program.  This wasn’t an issue until last month when I went to get one of my meds filled and it was going to cost me $45 for a 1-month supply.  I know that’s not outrageous, but it was more than I was willing to pay.

Upon looking online and doing a price check (which is available through my prescription insurance company’s website), I found that I could get a 3-month supply of the same medication through mail order for FREE.  Yes.  Free.  By using mail order, I saved myself $135 over a 3-month period.

That is just amazing to me.

And all I had to do was take in a fax form to my doctor and have her fill it out and fax it to the company and I had my meds within 5 days, straight to my front door.

I love it.
